So many new gadgets come out every year, and 2010 is no exception. We’ve trawled through loads of new releases to cut the wheat from the chaff. Provided you live in the 21st century and have gas and electricity, here are our top five recommendations:

Avatar has become the biggest selling film of all time, thanks in the most part to the amazing 3D experience that it took moviegoers on. Gaming has been struggling to take the next step into the 3D world, but we think Nvidia’s 3D Vision Glasses could be about to change all that. Priced at just $199 (approx £130) the glasses come with software to plug into your PC, allowing your games to come alive and be experienced in three dimensions.

Carrying on with the 3D theme, Fujifilm FinePix camera is our number two choice. It is the world’s first camera which allows you to take and view 3D pictures, all without the need to wear those cumbersome glasses. The price, as you may not have expected for a world first, is fairly reasonable – around £400.

3.          3. Natural Light Simulator Philips HF3463/01
This innovative lamp replicates the way the sunlight gradually increases in the morning, so that it “positively affects your energy hormones, preparing your body to wake up”, say Philips. If you hate being startled awake by your alarm clock, this might be the gadget for you.

4.       iPod Nano Video

The next generation iPod from Apple is here. Boasting a video recorder with editing technology, a 2.2 inch display screen and live pause for radio, the iPod Nano makes it easier than ever to upload your videos to YouTube or email them to friends.

5.       Remington Spin Curl

Last on our list is aimed at the ladies, although it may appeal to men with long hair too! This revolutionary design started off life as a plastic cup attached to the end of a hair dryer, and doesn’t look at that different now, which swirls the hair around to create natural looking curls without damaging the hair. It’s a snip at just £22.99 from Superdrug.

The gadgets for 2010 are shaping up to be great finds, and since we are only a few months into the year, we can be sure that there will be many more to follow. Whether you want to wake up with natural looking light, or delve into the world of 3D, 2010 looks like the perfect year for you.
